Spring Ideas

March 30th, 2012 § 0 comments § permalink

Hello, as spring has sprung a little early this year we thought we’d help inspire you this season with some of our new items.

It’s all about chunky jewellery in my opinion, so if your wanting a bit of bling this 1980′s set of enameled earrings, necklace and brooch by Monet will definitely hit the spot!!

It’s all about bright colours and this fantastic 1960s/70′s Christian Dior Scarf, although has muted tones has a splash of bright pink which makes it the perfect accessorie for your spring ensemble.

A wonderful pink 1950′s handmade dress, a little heavy to wear in the hight of summer but perfect for a slightly cooler spring evening.

Having a fantastically bright fitted red jacket in your wardrobe is a must have. This 1980′s BICCI jacket looks great with black skinny jeans again great for a Sring evening.

Afternoon Tea @ The Berkeley Hotel

February 26th, 2012 § 3 comments § permalink

If you haven’t already had afternoon tea at The Berkeley Hotel, located in Knightsbridge London, then you really are missing out!!

This is not a traditional english tea service, it is so much better and once you go you’ll never want to go anywhere else.

Situated in the gorgeous Caramel room, you are welcomed by beautifully presented members of staff, the girls wearing a purple 50′s style taffeta dress and the boys in white coats and black bow ties.

All the food is displayed on Paul Smith china and when you sit down you get given a very simple but elegant menu to choose from there very large selection of teas.  I went for Chocolate Mint truffle, this was very strong and does not require milk as i later found out!! Once settled you are presented with a lovely selection of sandwiches and wrap. If your a veggie they are most accommodating, serving my friend a lovely selection which was not on the menu.

Do not be fooled by the small portions, you can have as many plates of sandwiches and cake trays as your heart desires, yes as many as you like!!! It’s really more like a glorified buffet. I decided to restrain myself and only had one plate of sandwiches as i was keen to try out the cakes and mini savouries.

Each cake is beautifully crafted into small pieces of art, it almost feels a bit of a crime to eat them. However you get over that rather quickly as these fantastic fashion inspired cakes not only look superb but taste divine!!  I had the Autumn/Winter collection however if you go in the summer they will have a completely different collection this is due to the fact that there fashion inspirations are from current collections on the catwalk.

This is the best place in London to go for afternoon tea and one of the best priced at only £37.50!

Christmas Brocante! A Charity event For Sue Rider Care.

January 4th, 2012 § 0 comments § permalink

Two local QP ladies decided to opened their home to host a wonderful Christmas charity event in the hope of raising some money for Sue Ride Care.

This private event ,which hosted a range of stalls (including our Vintage clothing and accessories), also sold handmade christmas cards, ribbon wreaths and potted plants.

The kitchen was transformed into what i can only describe as a Parisian bistro, the tables were beautifully decorated and the smell of fresh ground coffee and cakes were to die for. I was astounded at the range of cakes and cookies, most, i’d like to add were home baked and donated for the event.

As the guests arrived you could see they were keen to buy all the lovely goodies that were on offer and those who didn’t buy were so generous with there donations!

We were very lucky to be invited to this wonderful event to help raise money for the Sue Rider Care foundation and are happy to report that the event  managed to raise over £700 and counting for the Charity which was a fantastic result!!

Below are pictures of our stall and some of the lovely people who bought some of our items on the day.

A fab 1970's Hat bout for only £5!!A happy customer who bought this hat for only £5

this 1950′s faux fur coat was bought for £35. Fantastic!!!

Past Forward Retro Meets Thandie Newton!

September 14th, 2011 § 1 comment § permalink

Despite the extremely windy weather on Sunday and having to chase after a few dresses that escaped our stall, we had a very successful day at the wonderful Queens Park Day.

Our stall throughout the day was surrounded by hungry vintage buyers so it was a great surprise to turn around and see none other than Thandie Newton wondering towards our stall. We were even more delighted when she bought a 1960′s tasseled leather coat and a pair of vintage white Charles Jourdan shoes. She obviously has a good eye as she was on the stall for only 10 mins before plucking from the pile with such elegance and ease two of our top items.
Sadly we didn’t have a camera to photograph the georgous star but she did promise us that she would be wearing the leather coat and shoes on the red carpet, here are the items so you know what they look like.

Our other fav item we sold on the day  was this  fantastic original 1970′s Biba coat!!

Mainly though what’s great about this fair, is that all the stalls are prioritised for Local people and businesses which means whatever you buy you know your supporting the local community.
